Independence Day Eve here Stateside — has been declared “Lady Gaga Day” in central Taiwan.
Taichung City will present the “Love Game” pianist with a key to the city and decorate the streets with flags stamped with her image to mark the pop diva’s highly-anticipated first concert on the island next month, government officials said Wednesday. The single concert, expected to be attended by approximately 4,000 of Gaga’s Taiwanese Little Monster, is part of her five-day (July 1-5) promotional tour of Taiwan.
“We have spent a great deal of time and energy inviting Lady Gaga to visit Taichung and we are very pleased to see the success of our efforts… Therefore, we are determined to designate the day as `Lady Gaga Day,’” says Jason Hu, mayor. “During the event, Lady Gaga might meet the media and I will represent our city in bestowing upon her the keys to the city.”
Event organizers will also host a creativity contest to encourage fans to come up with bold and daring designs reflecting the singer’s spirit.
